Wright State snapped their three-game losing streak Tuesday. And in a big way too.

The 60-37 win over Detroit in the first round of the Horizon League tournament ties the biggest win of the season for the Raider's. Their biggest win prior to Tuesday was in the season opener against Coastal Carolina (71-48).

Not bad for a team who has had their last eight games decided by eight points or less.

"We know we have to win now," said Scottie Wilson, who led the team with 15 points. "We have to win four in a row, but we have to play one at a time."

But at the start of the game, it sure didn't look as though they were going to win like they did. In the first half Detroit went on an 11-4 run to take a 21-12 lead with 6:43 to go. Wright State went on a run of their own though as they finished the half with a 15-3 run and led 27-24 at the half.

It wasn't until the second half that Wright State was able to get a comfortable lead. After a short back and forth battle the Raiders were able to go on a 16-3 run to end the game. The run included three 3-point field goals, one each from Cooper Land, Todd Brown and Scottie Wilson.

"We had to get in that grove," said Vaughn Duggins. "That was when we finally got into it."

The win was also a mile marker for the Raiders. the 37 points ties a school record for fewest points allowed in a game. The last time they allowed just 37 points was in 1974 when they defeated Ohio Northern 44-37.

This is the first time though they have accomplished the feat at the Division I level.

With the win Wright State will now take on Valparaiso on Friday night at Butler. These two teams just met less than a week ago and beat Wright State 75-73 in overtime. It was the first time in two seasons Wright State had a three-game losing streak. Plus it was the first time they lost to the same opponent twice in that same stretch.

On top of that they will be some added pressure as well. Although the game will be played on a neutral court Wright State may have some butterflies in their stomach for this one. They have not won at Hinkle Fieldhouse since 2005.

Regardless, they still have another game to play. Four other teams in the Horizon League can't say that after Tuesday.
