The Raiders got our to an early lead when R.J. Gundolff smacked a leadoff triple to the left field and scored on a groundout by Quentin Cate. Casey McGrew doubled to center field and Jeff Mercer brought him home with a ground rule double to left-center to push WSU out to a 2-0 lead.

Tulane (3-3 overall) scored a run in their half of the first, but the Green and Gold added to their lead in the third inning with five runs on four hits. McGrew and Kyle Mossbarger each drove in RBI’s with base hits, while Mercer smacked a three-run home run to center field to cap the inning and give WSU a 7-1 advantage.

Durket worked into some trouble in the bottom half of the third inning, giving up two runs and leaving the bases loaded before being replaced by Kaminsky. Kaminsky coaxed a ground ball, double play to end the inning and hold the Raiders at 7-3.

In the start, Durket tossed 2.1 innings with two strikeouts and three walks. The senior allowed three runs on four hits in a no decision.

Kaminsky gave up a solo home run with two outs in the fourth inning to Nick Boullosa, cutting the lead to 7-4, but McGrew struck with a towering two-run homer in the top of the fifth. Ryan Ashe added an RBI single to push the lead to 10-4 and ended the day for Tulane starting pitcher Conrad Flynn.

In the sixth inning, Gundolff doubled and later scored on a wild pitch to score the first run of the frame. Cate then send a ball 395 feet to left-center field and Wright State led 12-4 heading to the bottom of the sixth inning.

Kaminsky finished the game with 6.2 innings of work to pick up the victory in his first appearance of the season. He allowed three runs on five hits to go along with three strikeouts.

In the game, Wright State stranded only two base runners, while Tulane left seven runners aboard. The Raiders cranked out a season-high 12 hits and 12 runs and struck out only five times – a season-low for the team.

McGrew paced the WSU offence at the plate with four hits, three runs scored and three RBI’s. Mercer drove in four RBI’s and scored a pair of runs, while Cate collected a pair of runs batting in to supplement his three runs scored. Mossbarger extended his hitting streak to four games and Gundolff scored two runs for WSU in the victory.
