Streakers!

By Ryan Hehr
With all the nail biting games Wright State has had this season Raider fans may not have had any nails left to bite when WSU won 50-47 over Youngstown State Saturday.

In typical Wright State fashion the Raiders let a comfortable lead slip away- this time a 12 point lead- and found themselves in tight place late in the game. But with just 32 seconds on the clock Todd Brown was the savior for the second time this season. He hit the 3-pointer that gave Wright State their eighth straight win.

"(Head coach Brad Brownell) put the ball in my hands," said Brown. "That's what I wanted, the shot."

Brown also hit a game-winning three on Dec. 15 against Miami. Although this one wasn't as time expired the result was still the same- a Wright State win.

While Brown's shot may have stole the spotlight, great defense was also the key to the WSU victory.

With 30 seconds remaining Youngstown took the ball to the other end of the court, but were forced to call a timeout with 7.2 seconds remaining. Freshman N'Gai Evans deflected a pass with his foot and forced the Penguins to call a timeout. He then deflected the in-bounds play that forced Youngstown to make an off-balanced shot at the end.

"(Brownell) told me to be ready and alert. I was looking to get a deflection or a steal and make a play," said Evans.

To go along with his winning basket Brown also led the Raiders in scoring with 14. Will Graham was the only other Raider in double figures for scoring with 10 while Scottie Wilson added nine.

Wright State's next game will be at home when they will take on Loyola at 8:00 following the women's game against Cleveland State.
