Eleven ...

By Ryan Hehr
It's only fitting that on senior night, and possibly the last home game of the season for Wright State that the Raiders take the game down to the final seconds.

With 4.3 seconds left Vaughn Duggins made the game winning shot, again, for the Wright State to give them a 59-58 win over Detroit. The win extends Wright State's school record winning streak to 11 games.

The game was close all throughout as neither team was able to build up a lead at any point during the game. One of the biggest leads for Wright State was a seven point margin that had at the end of the first half thanks in part to a pair of Cooper Land free-throws with 1.5 second remaining.

They then had their biggest lead of the night early in the second half. They had an eight point lead with 14:19 left to play when Troy Tabler hit a 3-pointer to make it 40-32.

But then the Raiders let the Titans back into the game as Detroit slowly nipped away at their lead for the remainder of the half and then took a 54-56 lead with 1:48 left to play. After the lead switched back and forth for the remainder of the game Wright State got the final say with the final shot in terms of who was going to win.

Senior Night

  • Following the excitement of Wright State's sixth one-point victories this season head coach Brad Brownell recognized the Raiders' two lone seniors - Scottie Wilson and Jordan Pleiman.
  • On the stat sheets Wilson left the Nutter Center in a way few others have. He had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. He then gave a comic act following the game as he showed appreciation to all his teams, fans and family members while revealing the nicknames he had for everyone on the coaching staff.
  • As he walked off the court the pep-band played a verse of "Scottie Doesn't Know," at the request of Wilson.
  • While Pleiman didn't have the game Wilson had, Brownell made it known that he did have the respect of the team.
  • Jordan is the anchor of this team," said Brownell in his speech about the 6-foot-8 forward. "He doesn't get his name mentioned in the newspapers all the time but he's the guy who sets the screens for Vaughn Duggins, Todd Brown and DaShaun Wood, so we can have the open shot to win the game.
